Academy Car - Day Three - Seminar

Today was the first official Caterham Academy event - The Seminar at Caterham Crawley which is a really impressive complex, with lots of cars, meeting rooms, a huge workshop and so on - it's in a different league to the factory in Dartford.

The morning was a lot about ensuring we all knew certain regs, questions and answers and a lot of information to take on board... Plenty of it I had already read/researched anyway, but it was good to hear it again to make it sink in further and also to hear any questions that others had too.

We broke for lunch and had a look around the workshop where Caterham were displaying a current academy car on their laser alignment flat flooring bay.

Lunch was a good spread of rice, chicken curry, chilli and lots of rolls etc - I ate waaaaaayyyy too much which isn't ideal for next year's weigh ins!  The afternoon was about information from some of the sponsors, which could sound like a sales pitch on the face of it, but in actual fact it was good useful information.

In the meantime Dave was working on the bonnet and nose cone.  Picture below shows the bonnet masked and both the bonnet and nose cone sanded and prepped for the 2k high build to be applied.

Bonnet and nose cone with high build primer - next job will be the painting!  ooooh exciting! 😀  I can't wait to see what the finished colour combination will look like, but.... I must admit I'm a touch nervous too - I'm sure with Dave's awesome attention to detail it'll look good!

The day finished around 4pm, and we departed with our Caterham Motorsport folders to read!  I'm pleased I've already built a Caterham in the past, as right now there's a lot to take on board.
