Well today was a day filled with a lot differing of emotions, some expected and others not so:
- Excitement - the car was due today
- Elation - it arrived
- Disappointment - my wheels are different, the stickers didn't look right
- Frustration - where's my build manual so I can check what I'm supposed to have?
- Irritation - where's my hood, doors, petrol pump, harnesses, seats?
- Realisation - that what everyone had mentioned on the forums in terms of missing parts was correct and just part of the 'experience'
All in all it was a very exciting morning... I tidied up the final bits in the garage to get everything in order, and I even mopped the floor! Hung around for an hour or so wondering when it'll arrive, and decided to put a call into Caterham to see when Ian (the delivery guy) was due, and as the call got connected low and behold the Caterham van drives down the road.
I've made a time lapse video of the unloading which can be watched below:-

I'll be adding pictures and my progress later on today..
So it's later on, and here are some of the pics...

There should be 263bhp right there... Well I hope it's the R500 engine! |
|
DO NOT DROP IT WHATEVER YOU DO! |
|
A job well done - let's hope I can say that about the build in a couple of months time..! |
|
Hmmm, these aren't the wheels I ordered...
Turns out they are now the 'new style' wheels, but still not the ones I ordered or want. No one even told me the wheels would be any different until they were unloaded - so I've left it to caterham to sort it out and get me the 8 spoke anthracite finished wheels normally associated with the R500D. |
|
The carbon seats from the 620R. It took me a hell of a lot of effort to get these, and then I got a call later on in the day from Tony from parts who said I'd actually received 'pre-production prototypes' even though they were bagged with 'Wright' and an order number on the outside of the bag - my guess is they were for another customer. Anyway let's put it this way they were collected pretty sharpish, about 6 hours from delivery in fact. So now I'm left without seats or harnesses, but as they're not needed for a few weeks I can wait... |
|
